Submitting Cartographic & Transit Corrections

Because Philippine administrative boundaries, public transit fare matrices, and expressway toll schedules undergo periodic statutory revisions, we actively maintain a rapid data correction workflow. To help us verify and correct geographic inaccuracies quickly, please include the following references when submitting a ticket:

  • Administrative Boundary Issues: Cite the specific 9-digit or 10-digit Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) and the relevant statutory charter (such as a Republic Act, plebiscite proclamation, or provincial board ordinance).
  • Transit Fare Discrepancies: Cite the specific Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Memorandum Circular or rail operator tariff notice, including the effective date and route franchise endpoints.
  • Expressway Toll Rate Changes: Reference the published Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) tariff matrix notice, concessionaire advisory (e.g. NLEX Corporation, SMC SLEX Inc., or MPTC), and the specific toll plaza interchange.
  • Kilometer Post Coordinates: Include GPS coordinates in WGS84 decimal degrees (or PRS92 grid coordinates) and a photographic reference if verifying a newly relocated or physically restored milestone marker along national highways.

Our maintainers operate on Philippine Standard Time (PST / UTC+8). We review submitted error reports, verify primary source documents against official gazettes, and respond within 2 to 3 business days. Verified corrections are committed directly to our public Git tree and deployed to production in our next static build.

Academic Research & Civic Tech Inquiries

We frequently collaborate with university geography departments, urban planning researchers, transport advocacy coalitions, and civic developers across the Philippines. If you are conducting academic research that requires bulk historical GIS boundaries, specialized GeoJSON extracts, or customized demographic join tables, feel free to reach out via email. All underlying cartographic software and scripts remain free and open-source under the MIT license.

When citing mapaPH in academic papers or policy briefs, please refer to our citation guidelines outlined in the Documentation index, including the publication date and Git commit hash of the analyzed dataset.

Responsible Vulnerability Disclosure

We take the integrity and security of our web delivery pipeline seriously. If you identify a potential security vulnerability, client-side script flaw, or dependency issue in mapaPH, please report it privately by sending an email with subject line "[SECURITY REPORT]" to mapaph.1030@gmail.com.

Please provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue and avoid exploiting vulnerabilities beyond the minimum necessary for verification. We acknowledge receipt within 24 hours and commit to prompt remediation before any public disclosure.

Common Questions Before Reaching Out

Do I need written permission to use mapaPH data in my thesis or app?

No formal written permission is required. All source code and compiled JSON/GeoJSON directories in our repository are published under the permissive MIT License, and underlying Philippine government statistics are in the public domain under Republic Act No. 8293 Section 176. Standard academic attribution to mapaPH and the originating agency (PSA, NAMRIA, LTFRB, TRB, or PHLPost) is sufficient.

Where can I download the raw JSON or GeoJSON files in bulk?

You can download the complete pre-indexed datasets (including psgc-directory.json and philippine-zip-codes.json) directly from the src/data/ folder of our GitHub repository, or export administrative boundary polygons interactively through Lens.

Can mapaPH issue official land survey certifications or resolve overcharging complaints?

No. mapaPH is an independent open-source software project, not a government regulatory body. For official cadastral relocation surveys, consult a licensed Geodetic Engineer or the DENR Land Management Bureau. To report public transit overcharging or discount refusals, contact the LTFRB 24/7 Hotline at 1342 or email complaints@ltfrb.gov.ph.

How can I contribute a new Philippine mapping utility?

Fork our repository on GitHub, review the architectural guidelines in our Documentation Portal, and open a discussion ticket or pull request proposing the new tool, its authoritative data source, and its verification methodology.
